A hands on introduction to throwing pottery on the wheel. Designed for beginners & improvers alike, this class can be adapted to suit your specific needs & abilities.

These one to two sessions are centred around learning the key processes and fundamentals of throwing pots on the wheel. Following a demonstration by myself, a potter & founder of Calico Collective, you will be guided through each stage of the process with ample support. We have one pottery wheel, so you will take it in turns to throw.

We will cover – getting comfortable on the wheel, clay preparation, useful tools, centring, pulling walls, refining shapes & removing the piece from the wheel, amongst other things! 

Location – Churchgate Mill, Lavenders Brow, Stockport SK1 1YW

Duration – approximately 2 hours

What’s included – Materials (including one pot each to be trimmed, glazed & fired in your choice of colour), aprons, refreshments & nibbles. You are welcome to bring a bottle or extra snacks.

Please note that we share the space with two other ceramicists, who may be present during your session.
